It wouldn't take much, only a few words from him, and it could be ok again. She'd go running back to him in a heartbeat. She'd forget it all, just to be in his arms.

They all say it's the worst, because it's the first one. That it'll get better, and she'll find someone better, someone older, someone to make her happy. That next time it won't be so bad.

But she doesn't care. She's going to hold onto this. The feelings, good and bad. She's going to hold onto it so it doesn't happen again. So there won't be a next time.

Because this is just a terrible way to live.
